On a sweltering summer day, when the sun blazed high in the sky and the rivers had all dried up, a tired little crow flapped through the air searching for water.
Its wings were drooping, and its beak was dry. “Just a sip… just one cool drop,” the crow sighed.
Then—aha!—in the corner of a sunny garden, the crow spotted a tall clay pitcher gleaming with water inside. It swooped down, landed on the rim, and peeked in. But oh no! The water was too far down. The crow stretched its neck, even tried dipping in a wing—but it just couldn’t reach.
“Hmm… what now?” thought the clever bird.
First, the crow tried tapping the pitcher’s sides to break it. Tap tap tap! But the pitcher was strong and didn’t even crack.
Next, it tried tipping it over. Push! Shove! But the pitcher was heavy and stayed right where it was.
The crow plopped down, panting. “Think, think, think…” Then it spotted a bunch of small pebbles on the path. An idea sparked in its mind!
One by one, the crow dropped the pebbles into the pitcher—plop… plop… plop. Slowly, the water rose higher and higher!
After many pebbles and lots of hard work, the water reached the very top. The crow happily dipped its beak and took a long, refreshing drink.
“Ahhh! That’s better!” the crow chirped.
Thanks to a smart idea and a little patience, the clever crow had saved the day.
🧠 Moral of the story: Smart thinking and steady effort can solve even the trickiest problems!
